Christine Yurie Kim Eminent Professor of Information Technology K. J. Ray Liu (ECE) has been awarded the highest honor that the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Signal Processing Society (SPS) bestows, known as the Society Award. He was recognized “for influential technical contributions and profound leadership impact.

Regarding the award, Liu said, “I would like to thank Signal Processing Society for the kind recognition. The credits of technical contributions go to the students and colleagues with whom I have the pleasure of working; the honor of leadership impact belongs to the volunteers whose unselfish donation of time and effort make our society better. I am humbled to receive this award on their behalf.”

The IEEE SPS Society Award honors outstanding technical contributions and leadership in the Signal Processing field. The prize is $2500, a plaque and a certificate, and will be presented at the Society's Awards Ceremonies at the 40th IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to be held in Brisbane, Australia, from April 19-24, 2015.

On its 40th anniversary, ICASSP is the world’s largest and most comprehensive technical conference focused on signal processing and its applications. The 2015 conference will feature world-class presentations by internationally renowned speakers, cutting-edge session topics and provide a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded professionals from around the world.
