Bruck Named a UMD Distinguished Scholar-Teacher

Department of Mechanical Engineering Professor Hugh Bruck has been named one of six Distinguished Scholar-Teachers for the 2016-2017 school year. Bruck, who also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies and the Associate Chair for Academic Affairs in the department, joins fellow professors Amr Baz, Jim Duncan, and Mohammad Modarres in receiving this honor.

This is the second recognition Bruck has received in the past year for his teaching efforts. In fall 2015, Bruck was named a University System of Maryland (USM) PROMISE Alliance for Graduate Education and Professoriate (AGEP) Outstanding Faculty Mentor for the 2015-2016 year.

The Distinguished Scholar-Teacher Program, established in 1978, honors a small number of faculty members each year who have demonstrated notable success in both scholarship and teaching. Distinguished Scholar-Teachers make a public presentation on a topic within their scholarly discipline, and receive an honorarium to support their professional activities.
