Depireux, Masri win $25K UMB UMVentures Award

ISR Associate Research Scientist Didier Depireux and Endodontics Department Associate Professor Radi Masri at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry have won the 2015 UMB UMVentures Award. The $25K prize was given at the Johns Hopkins University-University of Maryland Baltimore Innovation Showcase on April 20 for “Magnetic Delivery of Therapeutic Nanoparticles to the Dental Pulp” technology. “The technology you presented was viewed as having excellent commercial potential by the event’s financial investor and corporate development audience. This year’s technology field was extremely competitive and winning this award is an outstanding achievement along with a terrific endorsement of your work,” said Philip Robilotto, the chief commercialization officer of UMVentures Baltimore, in a letter to the winners.

Awards presented at the Innovation Showcase were made by Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland Baltimore, the Abell Foundation and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development’s BioMaryland Center as part of a day-long Joint Meeting of the Johns Hopkins Alliance for Science and Technology Development and the University of Maryland, Baltimore Commercial Advisory Board.
