UMD Recognized for Top Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programs

The University of Maryland (UMD) has been named one of the country's "Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs" by the Princeton Review. In the 2015 list of the top entrepreneurship programs, published in Entrepreneur magazine, UMD ranks No. 9 among public schools and No. 21 overall for its undergraduate program.

This is the fourth consecutive year that UMD has been named a Top 25 Entrepreneurship Program. Over the past year, student enrollment in innovation and entrepreneurship courses at UMD has doubled. The University of Maryland offers 141 innovation & entrepreneurship (I&E) courses taught by 103 faculty representing 34 different campus departments, including courses in engineering.

Contributing to the success of the University of Maryland’s I&E students is the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech), a Clark School program that offers courses and support in entrepreneurship to students and faculty. Through the program, participants gain the skills to research, create, and market innovative technologies. They also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with successful tech entrepreneurs for feedback and advice on project ideas.
