Greg Holland, a mechanical engineering undergraduate student at the University of Maryland (UMD), is the recipient of a $1000 scholarship from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Washington, D.C., Section.  He and his faculty mentor, Dr. Kristen M. Hines, will be honored at the Science Fair and Scholarship Award Dinner on April 24, 2013, hosted by the ASME D.C. Section.

Holland, who is from Gaithersburg, Maryland, currently serves as Events Chair of the ASME Student Section at the University of Maryland.  ASME is a not-for profit professional organization that strives to promote “the art, science, and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences throughout the world.”  The UMD section strives to help students become successful in today’s workforce by helping them build leadership, teamwork, and social skills.

The Science Fair and Scholarship Dinner will be attended by ASME WDC Section Executive Boards Officers, ASME WDC 2012-13 Regional Universities Scholarship recipients, and High School Science Fair recipients.  Attendees will have the chance to discuss work and interests with attending engineers, members of ASME, and its sponsors.
