Incoming Terps football player Albert Reid said he chose the University of Maryland because of its top engineering program when he announced his commitment to join the UMD squad last week.

"I chose them because at Maryland I wanted to major in mechanical engineering and it has one of the top engineering programs in the nation," Reid told The Washington Post.

Reid comes to College Park from Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C. He was named the 2011 D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year.
