Alireza Khaligh Named IEEE Fellow

Alireza Khaligh has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) “for contributions to power electronics for transportation electrification.”

The IEEE Fellow designation is one of the most prestigious honors conferred to less than 0.1% of IEEE’s voting members. Elevation to Fellow grade is reserved for individuals with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any IEEE field of interest.

Prof. Khaligh’s contributions have significantly advanced the development of high-efficiency and compact power electronic converters and electric drivetrain systems for electrified transportation systems including electric vehicles (EVs) and more electric aircraft (MEA). Prof. Khaligh has authored more than 230 technical publications with over 21,000 citations. His research spans a broad range of topics, including modeling, design, AI/ML driven control, and industry translation of wide bandgap power electronic converters, and energy systems. He is the Interim Director of the Institute for Systems Research (ISR) and the Founding Director of the Maryland Power Electronics Laboratory (MPEL). Furthermore, he currently is the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification.
