Clark School Students Assist STEM Program

Three Clark School students assisted a national summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program for high school students. The students served as captains for teams that participated in a series of educational challenges designed to help high school students develop their team building, time management and brain storming skills.

Viva TechnologyTM is Great Minds in STEMTM’s national K-12 educational program. The program is designed to enlighten teachers, parents and students about the many ways that engineers and scientists impact our daily lives. It is also designed to help students understand the correlation between their math and science studies and the many exciting careers in technology.

The Clark School student participants were:

  • Alex Downes (chemical engineering)
  • Femi Pai (chemical engineering)
  • Elizabeth Weiner (aerospace engineering)

"The University of Maryland students played a vital role in helping Great Minds in STEMTM to execute another national high school outreach program," said Loren Cisne, education programs coordinator for Great Minds in STEM. "With extraordinary energy, patience and humor, they dedicated time to motivate and mentor young students to pursue college degrees in science and engineering."
