McAvoy elected Fellow of IFAC


Professor Emeritus Thomas McAvoy (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) has been elected a Fellow of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). The citation reads, "For contributions to process control, particularly pioneering work on neural network applications, and for service as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Process Control." Dr. McAvoy will receive this honor at the IFAC Council and Related Meetings in Heidelberg, Germany this fall. Before his retirement, Dr. McAvoy held a joint appointment in the (then) Chemical Engineering Department and ISR.
