Professors Earn Grants for Fluid Mechanics

Three Clark School mechanical engineering professors have earned four-year Office of Naval Research awards for work in fluid dynamics.

Professors Amir Riaz and Elias Balaras are co-PIs on a $900,000 award for "Direct and large-eddy simulation of air bubble and water droplet generation in turbulent boundary layers."

Professor Jim Duncan is principal investigator on an $806,000 award for "An Experimental Investigation of the Hull Boundary Layer."

The two research projects investigate air entrainment and spray production along the hull boundary layer of a naval ship.
