Janet Murphy, executive administrative assistant in the Engineering Dean's Office, was the recipient of the 2003 Staff Service Award. This award is given to a staff member whose service to their department, to the school and the university has been judged outstanding.

Murphy is recognized for her involvement in the annual staff appreciation event and Clark School business website committee, both activities outside of her regular duties. Peers identify her as someone who goes out of her way to help others.
