Joseph Schork will become chair of the Clark School's chemical and biomolecular engineering department on October 1.

Schork is a professor and associate chair in Georgia Tech's School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, where he has taught for more than 25 years and led the effort to revise the undergraduate curriculum.

Schork's research interests and activities include polymer reaction engineering, involving the kinetics, mathematical modeling, reactor design and control of polymerization processes.

He is the author of one book and nearly 90 archival journal papers. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Polymer Reaction Engineering and has been the co-chair of the 1994 Engineering Foundation Conference on Polymer Reaction Engineering. He is the recipient of the Doolittle Award for the best paper in Organic Coating and Plastics Division of the American Chemical Society, W. T. Ziegler Outstanding Teacher Award and Omega Chi Epsilon Outstanding Teacher Award.

Schork received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Louisville and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
