Fischell Department of Bioengineering Professor and Chair William Bentley was featured in a recent CNN report on bioterrorism. The segment, which covers the release of a report stating that the likelihood of a biological weapons attack on the U.S. or elsewhere in the world is "great and growing", also focuses on concerns stemming from the potential risks of using pathogens like polio and influenza in scientific research that focuses on vaccine development and counterterrorism. Bentley tells CNN he believes that scientists must continue to pursue advances in their research without neglecting their responsibility to work with regulatory agencies to keep the public safe.
