Engineering Co-op and Career Services Director Receives Mentoring Award

Heidi Sauber, director of engineering co-op and career services, has received the inaugural William L. "Bud" Thomas Jr. Mentoring Award.

The award was established in 2003 to honor long-time Vice President for Student Affairs and affiliate College Student Personnel faculty member Bud Thomas in honor of his commitment to mentoring graduate students and supporting mentoring for student affairs employees.

The award recognizes Sauber's sustained commitment to mentoring graduate students in the college student personnel program.

One of her students remarked that, "A good mentor is a person whose lessons and support lingers long after the day to day contact between the two has ended. By this standard and by many others, Heidi Sauber excels as a mentor.

Sauber has served as the director of engineering coop and career services for 18 years. She is pictured above with two of her nominators, who served as acting directors during her maternity leaves. Arline Duffy, MA '95, on the left is currently the director of the student development center at George Washington University and Steve Koppi, MA '92, on the right is the executive director of alumni relations at Catholic University.
