Faculty and staff from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) gathered with friends and family on May 29 at the University of Maryland Golf Course to celebrate the retirement of Professor Steven Tretter. University of Maryland Provost Nariman Favardin was on hand to present him with a signed letter of honorary citation from Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

Tretter completed his B.S. in electrical engineering at the University of Maryland nearly 50 years ago, and has served as a faculty member in the ECE Department for 42 years. Along with his wife, Teresa Tretter, he established the David Andrew Tretter Memorial Scholarship to honor the memory of their son. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time outstanding junior or senior engineering student with academic merit and financial need.

Tretter intends to continue to stay active with Department and the ENTS program through teaching and advising.
