Dr. Hani Mahmassani receives the 2004 Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award

Dr. Hani Mahmassani, the Charles A. Irish Sr. Chair in Civil Engineering and director of the Maryland Transportation Initiative, was selected by the Urban Transportation Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers as the recipient of the 2004 Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award.

Mahmassani received this award for his diverse transportation interests and abilities and for his outstanding contributions to advancing transportation engineering and planning through his internationally recognized research efforts and his commitment to teaching and mentoring the future transportation leaders.

Recognized as one of the most eminent academic scholars in the field of transportation systems, Mahmassani had made vital contributions to transportation systems analysis, network modeling, traffic behavior and simulation, advanced technologies and intelligent transportation systems. He joined the University of Maryland's Clark School of Engineering in 2002.
