Regan Gift Supports ECE UndergradsWith a $50,000 pledge, Ann Regan has established the Keith G. Regan Memorial Scholarship Endowment, in memory of her husband, to provide annual scholarships for undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
Specifically, the scholarship is meant for students in ECE who without the aid of scholarships would need to take on part-time or full-time employment in order to afford to stay in school.
Keith Regan, B.S. '79, electrical engineering, paid for his education at Maryland by working three jobs each summer and by working as a desk receptionist at a campus dorm. He went on to be vice president at Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications and CTO at Telenor. He died from the effects of cholangiocarcinoma at the age of 45 in 2005.
"Keith would be the first to want to help a student finance his or her education," Ann Regan said. "It would be very important to him to know that some young person might be able to focus on learning rather than earning the money to be able to go to school."
