England Officially Named DoD Deputy Secretary

England Officially Named DoD Deputy Secretary

Clark School alumnus Gordon England, electrical and computer engineering ’61, has officially secured his post as deputy secretary of defense.

Pres. Bush used a recess appointment to formally name England to the position, which he has held in an acting role for the past eight months.

Previously, England was secretary of the U.S. Navy. He served as executive vice president of General Dynamics Corporation from 1997 until 2001. He has also served as executive vice president of the Combat Systems Group, president of General Dynamics Fort Worth aircraft company (later Lockheed), president of General Dynamics Land Systems Company, and as the principal of a mergers and acquisition consulting company.
