Clark School Dean Nariman Farvardin wrote the "Last Word" column in the March issue of Prism, a magazine produced by the American Society of Engineering Education.

His column addresses strategies for improving retention rates among engineering students. His recommendations include recruiting those students most likely to thrive in the challenging engineering school environment, making engineering come alive with innovative courses taught by talented faculty, and creating a complete academic experience with exciting opportunities, guidance and a sense of community.

The Clark School's retention rates have steadily risen since Farvardin became dean in the fall of 1999.

The issue is available online for subscribers and will be publicly available after the release of the April issue.
