Celebrate Engineering at Maryland Day 

Maryland Day, the University of Maryland’s annual celebration, returns this Saturday, April 29, 2023. You are invited to enjoy a day of learning, fun, and discovery all in person! 

Established in 1999, Maryland Day is the University of Maryland's largest community outreach event. Join us for more than 60 Clark School events, family-friendly demonstrations, and engineering activities! You can find us in the Science & Tech Way learning neighborhood.

Popular activities hosted by Maryland Engineering include: 

• Liquid Nitrogen Ice cream - John S. Toll Physics Building (Outside)
  - Bet you haven't had ice cream like this! This homemade specialty tastes great and is safe for all ages.

• Make Your Own Slime and Poly Gel - Kim Building Plaza
  - Discover chemical engineering through hands-on activities involving classical slime, super-soaker poly-gel and more

• Fire Tornado and Sprinkler System Lab Demos -  J.M. Patterson Building (inside)
  - Visit the Department of Fire Protection Engineering's lab spaces to see a 10-foot-tall fire tornado and learn about how sprinkler systems work 

• Terps Racing - Lot GG1
  - A Terps Racing student team unveils its Formula-style internal-combustion-engine car and shows off their SAE Baja competition racecar that they designed and built.

• Robotics showcase and demonstrations - A James Clark Hall (inside)/ other locations 
  - One-pound 3D-printed combat robots built by Leatherbacks team members face off in an action-packed tournament. More Robotics demonstrations are around campus!

• Dry ice bubbles - Chemistry Building, Front of the Building
  - Catch a bubble with your own hands from bubbles made from dry ice.

• Martian Rover in action - Glenn L. Martin Building, Front Lawn
  -Engineering students show off their progress in building a Martian rover for the University Rover Challenge, including an interactive robotic arm and an autonomously moving drive train

• Wind Tunnel - Glenn Martin Wind Tunnel 
  - Experience the power of the wind in the Glenn L Martin Wind Tunnel, actively involved in aerodynamic research and development since 1949.
