Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Responsibilities include leadership of a research-active department, program development with industrial partners, and stewardship of strong academic programs.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has 26 regular and Affiliate faculty members, 109 Professional Track Faculty and 25 Staff. The research activities and educational programs include research in the areas of environmental, geotechnical, project management, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. With more than 398 undergraduate students, 128 graduate students and annual research expenditures of more than $28.5 million, the department is a central education and research unit at the University of Maryland. The department offers degree programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering.  The department is home to the Center for Disaster Resilience, Center for Advanced Transportation Technology and the Maryland Transportation Institute.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in civil and environmental engineering, or a closely related field; strong leadership ability with proven interpersonal skills; a proven research record with evidence of international recognition, and a commitment to engineering education. Applicants must be qualified for appointment as a tenured full professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
