TI Gift Extends ECE Partnership

Texas Instruments (TI) has donated a major gift to the Clark School's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The contribution from TI extends the company's long-time Industrial Affiliate partnership with ECE, and represents TI's largest gift ever to the department.

The gift will be used to fund student research assistantships and graduate fellowships, and will also support students participating in the Maryland Engineering Research Internship (MERIT) summer research program.

"This support from Texas Instruments will contribute greatly to the success of our educational mission and provides valuable funding to talented and deserving students," said ECE Chair Dr. Patrick O'Shea. "We greatly value the partnership we have developed with TI over the years, and we are particularly grateful for this generous gift."

The exact amount of the gift was not disclosed.

Texas Instruments is the world leader in digital signal processing and analog technologies. The company, headquartered in Dallas with manufacturing, design and sales operations in more than 25 countries, has a local office in Germantown, Md.

The ECE Industrial Affiliates program is designed to promote long-term collaboration and mutually beneficial relationships between the department and corporate partners. For more information, please contact Director of Public Relations Ted Knight at 301-405-3596 or teknight@umd.edu.
