Former EWB Advisor Honored
Deborah Goodings, chair of civil and environmental engineering at George Mason University, has been recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers with their 2010 Engineering Excellence Award.
According to The Mason Gazette, "Goodings was recognized for her career excellence in research and teaching at her previous position at the University of Maryland, with special attention for her award-winning work with Engineers Without Borders-USA, and her instrumental role in launching the UMD cross-disciplinary Master of Engineering and Public Policy program."
Goodings, who is originally from Canada, was advisor to the Clark School's Engineers Without Borders chapter and co-director of the Master of Engineering and Public Policy Program. She became chair of civil and environmental engineering at George Mason University in 2009.
Alumnus Charles E. Waggner established the Deborah J. Goodings Professorship in Engineering for Global Sustainability to honor her work for the school.
