Engineering Videos Win in Vid/Terp Competition

Aerospace engineering graduate students Joseph Conroy and Andrew Hyslop earned 1st place in Vid/Terp Competition.
Aerospace engineering graduate students Joseph Conroy and Andrew Hyslop earned 1st place in Vid/Terp Competition.

Aerospace graduate students, Joseph Conroy and Andrew Hyslop, won first place in the University of Maryland Vid/Terp Competition in the Science/Engineering/Technology category. They won $350 for their video, "Research in the Autonomous Vehicle Lab."

A group of Gemstone students, including several from the Clark School, won $150 for their second place video, "Team FastR."

Engineering students also received honorable mentions in the category:

"Introduction to Plasma"
Michael Sweatt and Bobby Bruce, Materials Science Engineering

"Fire Protection Engineering: Understanding Fire Phenomena"
Haiwen Ding and Jeff Keslin, Fire Protection Engineering

"Cell Mechanics"
Ed Dechaumphai, Mechanical Engineering, and Jonathan Chung, Bioengineering

Vid/Terp is a campus-wide competition for students to create short videos about their current research interests or student activities. This is the second year of the contest and the first year the contest was open to graduate students.

All of this year's video entries are on www.doflick.com, a start-up web site founded by Clark School alumni. Click on "Vid/Terp 2008."
