K. J. Ray Liu, Christine Yurie Kim Eminent Professor of Information Technology and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has received the honor of Chair Professor bestowed by National Chaio Tung University (NCTU) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The appointment was conferred by the dean of the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Hsin-Hong Chen.

NCTU was the first university in Taiwan to offer electrical engineering, computer engineering and computer science programs. The university is the highest ranked in Taiwan’s engineering field, and ranks 49th worldwide in electrical and computer engineering. Currently, the college has three departments and a full-time academic staff of more than 150. The college has established three main research centers concentrating on Nanoelectronics and Infotronic Systems, Information and Communications Technology, and Photonic and Optoelectronic Technology.
