New Research and Innovation Seed Grant Program Announced

The University of Maryland, College Park, and University of Maryland, Baltimore, have announced a two-pronged joint Research and Innovation Seed Grant Program to promote collaboration between the campuses. The program is a part of the new MPowering the State effort.

The initiative seeks to foster creative teams of investigators working across disciplinary boundaries and campuses; support new research and basic science pertaining to future health care improvements and technologies; and stimulate submission of innovative research proposals to federal, public and private funding agencies.

There are two categories of seed grants -- basic/early-stage translational research and complex therapeutics (in conjunction with the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research in Shady Grove).

Faculty interested in applying must do so by the April 16, 2012. More information is available at http://www.umresearch.umd.edu/sgp/
