BioE Undergraduate Program Earns ABET Accreditation

The Fischell Department of Engineering is pleased to announce that its undergraduate Bachelor of Science program has been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), retroactive to October 2007. The program accepted its first students in 2006.

Accreditation is a peer-review process that assures and helps maintain the quality of post-secondary education through comprehensive reviews that examine whether a program meets established criteria. ABET accreditation is granted to programs that meet quality standards set by professional societies from the appropriate engineering or technology field for which they prepare their students.

For more information, contact the undergraduate program in bioengineering at bioe-undergrad@umd.edu or visit the ABET web site.
